What happens when words leave a webpage and become a poem? In this two-hour, hands-on workshop, we’ll gather language from recipes, letters, privacy statements, and other unexpected corners of the internet, using them as raw material for poetry. Through web-based coding, we’ll learn to move words around like building blocks, compose short poems, and exchange language in a shared digital space. We’ll explore how the digital environment itself can become a creative medium for collecting, transforming, and sharing language.
Finally, we will bring our poems into the physical world through analog printing techniques, experimenting with text orientation, placement, and the connections that emerge when poems share a space. Together, we’ll discover how collecting, borrowing, and rearranging words can spark unexpected meanings and new ways of reading. No coding or poetry experience needed.
Participants must bring their own laptops. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
