Program 3: Recover, Remain, & Thrive

The artists and arts organizations that make the Asheville area the special, vibrant place we call home have been deeply impacted by Hurricane Helene. Many have lost homes, studios, equipment, livelihoods.

This Program enables artists to recover, remain in the area, and continue to create the work that inspires our community. Funds are distributed directly to artists over multiple phased projects, ensuring that recovery is both immediate and foundational, and maintaining the Asheville area’s identity as an arts haven for residents and visitors alike.

We just launched Phase Two: Art Remains, and we need your support.

Phase 2 will offer grants of up to $20,000 to Asheville area artists, collectives, and organizations. These grants offer foundational, longer term stabilization to “community connectors” that serve as hubs with wide ripple effects. We are raising $100k to support this effort.

Phase One: Art Recovers

** GRANTS APPLICATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED **

Art Recovers offered $1500 grants to 20 Asheville area artists who were impacted by Hurricane Helene. This first phase quickly distributed funds from existing Lamplight AVL capital and a generous matching donation from Make Noise, so artists could respond to the immediate aftereffects of the storm.

Phase Two: Art Remains

On November 10, we launched fundraising for Phase Two: Art Remains. This phase will fundraise $100,000 and distribute grants of up to $20,000 to artists, organizations, or collectives that serve as hubs with wide ripple effects of community engagement. The funds will stabilize these “community connectors” and broaden the impact of the Program in our communities.

Phase Three: Art Thrives

Once phase one is complete and phase two is well underway, we will turn our attention to Phase Three: Art Thrives, which will focus on long term stable spaces for Asheville area artists.
